This is Santosh Didi, one of our main artisans. She is an amazing woman and wonderful soul. Santosh Didi is one of our 15 artisan women employed full-time. Through her employment she is able to send her daughters to school, and give them the education to change their life.

Thank you for supporting Salt and Spice Jewelry.

Thank you for helping "women empowering women!"

Be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world.

                                                                                           -Mahatma Gandhi Ji-

Our grassroots project started in 2013 while on a trip to India.

We are two American jewelry designers and sisters, Melissa and Kelley, that love traveling the world. We have been to various places in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, North and South America, and have never felt a raw connection with the people like we did in India.

We fell in love with a family of artisan women in the north-western region of the country. Even though this is a poverty stricken area, we were simply amazed at their easy going life style and manner. They explained to us that through good Karma, good things come to good people.

Seeing their beautiful creations we decided to try and help them help themselves by lending a hand and finding a market for their beautiful jewelry and by working together with the manufacturing of our jewelry designs..

Melissa decided to move to India where she works with our artisans full time and makes sure things run smoothly.

Through Salt and Spice Jewelry we empower these wonderful women to not only live much better lives, but to be able to provide for themselves and their children. Every jewel you purchase helps provide these wonderful women with not only the basic needs to survive, but also with the peace of mind of running their own business.

Besides directly providing indigenous craftswomen with full-time jobs, every purchase you make helps keep traditional Indian handcrafts alive in a changing world. We also contribute a portion of our proceeds directly to charities in the communities we serve both in India and in the United States. We have both had experience running our own businesses, and experience as employees working for others. We are sisters, mothers, aunts, friends, jewelry designers and craftswomen. We are a company by women for women. So from the Salty beaches of San Diego to the Spicy villages of India, we bring to you Salt and Spice Jewelry. Help us in making the world a more beautiful place! Come and visit us at our studio outside New Delhi anytime!

This is how it all started…….

Two sisters, one love for jewelry and one belief- that together with God's help we CAN change the world!
